TWHEAO College Scholarship Program                                    YOUTH HORSEMANSHIP CAMP

Printable 2009 Application

Purpose

To establish a scholarship fund for a member of the TWHEAO to be used toward any 2 or 4 year college, graduate program or trade school to further their education.

Eligibility Requirements

Application Requirements

Applicant must fill out a scholarship form, submit one letter of recommendation, preferably describing their involvement in TWHEAO and/or the promotion of the Tennessee Walking Horse, and attach a copy of their official transcript to the application. The letter of recommendation must be placed in a sealed envelope and submitted with the application (or sent directly to the TWHEAO Scholarship Committee).

Judging Criteria

Seventy percent of the weighting will be placed on involvement with TWHEAO and the Tennessee Walking Horse. Thirty percent will include scholastic achievement, community service, and leadership activities.

Distribution of Funds

The scholarship will be awarded to the recipient at the TWHEAO annual show in June, and will be good for the 2008-2009 academic year. The check will be made payable directly to the institution declared by the recipient. In the event that the recipient is a junior in high school, or for some reason needs to delay college for over one year, the money will be held by TWHEAO and will be paid out at the time of enrollment for that student (up to a three year limit). TWHEAO is entitled to all interest earned on those monies and the recipient will be entitled only to the principle amount.
